I don’t know how you feel about New Years resolutions. I don’t love them, but I also don’t hate them. Some years I’ll make resolutions, some years I won’t. I feel like it’s really dependent on where I am in life at the time and my headspace. 

This year, I decided to make some goals for myself. I want to share those with you to maybe inspire you to make your own goals.

I do want to put an emphasis on the fact that you should not feel pressured whatsoever by myself, social media, other people you follow, etc. to make goals and to stick to them. If you feel like you’re in a place to make goals and are motivated to do so, then go for it. If you have no idea what goals to set, then don’t make any! Also, don’t place unnecessary pressure on yourself to accomplish these goals. If you don’t end up sticking to them, then that’s fine! It wasn’t your time to accomplish that goal, and maybe sometime in the future it will be your time. I trust that everything happens for a reason and that the timing is up to the universe to decide. Be kind to yourself.

Here is my 2021: 

My main perspective going into this year is to treat myself as my soulmate. I’m not ashamed to admit that at the end of 2020, I was in one of those phases where I felt lonely and wanted a boyfriend. I go through those phases every once in a while and that’s completely normal. I wanted to put my attention elsewhere, and what’s better than putting that attention on myself?

I thought about myself as my own soulmate and found so much truth in it. I am the one who understands me best. I am the only one who has been with me through all the ups and downs of life so far- and I’m the only one who will stick by me for the rest of my life. I know myself better than anyone else. I know how to treat myself with love, what makes my heart happy, and what makes me eyes shine. No one else will know me better than I know myself. I am my own soulmate, so I want to treat myself as such. I want to take myself out on dates- grab a coffee, have a picnic, etc. I want to buy myself flowers, write myself beautiful poetry, do things that make me feel like sunshine.

I want to travel. I don’t want to wait to find a guy who will do these things for me when I can do them for myself. 

I also have other smaller goals I want to accomplish in 2021. 

I want to read 30 books this year.

I read 20 books in only 6 months in 2020 and hope to read an additional 10 for this year. I’ve already read one book this year which was Midnight Sun. P.S. it was a 5/5 star read! 

I want to stretch after every workout. I used to get lazy and not want to stretch after my workouts, but I think it’s very beneficial to prevent soreness in my muscles.

I have been doing this after every single workout as well as rolling out my muscles. I haven’t gotten sore from any of my workouts since doing this every morning. 

I want to continue on my health journey, maintaining what I’m already doing. I have been eating more nutritious foods while finding balance in my diet, as well as getting movement in regularly. I would like to continue that in this new year. 

I want to start journaling.

We’re 13 days into 2021 and I have been journaling every morning after my workouts. I already feel like it helps lift my mood and focus on the positives in my life. 

Lastly, I just want to focus more on the present. I want to romanticize my daily routine and find the beauty in it.
